NEW MEMBER LUNCHEON: If you are interested in learning more about our church and possibly becoming a member, please join us Sunday August 29, at noon, in the Community Room for a two hour informational luncheon.

150th Anniversary: Plates and Christmas ornaments will be on sale in the Narthex today.

congregational meeting will be on August 22.   We're going to have a potluck dinner concurrent with the meeting. Join us for a fun and informative evening, starting at 5pm in the Family Life Center. Topics will include reviewing the annual report, our year-end financials, and voting on Pastoral Renewal Leave. Please bring a dish to pass.  We also need volunteers to help set up right after the 2nd service on that day. Please contact Stephanie Vogel at (847)338-3499 if you are available to help. 

CELLO OR VIOLIN: Do you play the cello or violin? If so, call Matt Archibald at 847-529-1789 or e-mail him at mattarchibald@gcchome.org.

TIME CAPSULE PROJECT:  We are trying to create an inspirational book to put in the time capsule this October.  We need your personal story about how God has worked through GCC to bring you and your family closer to Him.  You can also include a prayer or submit pictures from events, or small group outings that have been special to you.  Not a scrap booker?  No problem, just submit your story and pictures to Laura Lense at paulauralense@prodigy.net and we'll create the page for you.  Not a writer?  No problem, we can help you write your story if you want to tell it to us.  Don't have an email?  Then call Laura at (847)625-1644 with your questions or to schedule an appointment for help with your story.  Become a part of GCC history and let us know how you want your family's name included in this wonderful book.  

T.ARTS: The Technical Arts group is looking for a few people who are interested in working the sound and video portion of worship services.  We will train.  Contact Gary Vogel at (847)691-6962 for details

Operation Christmas Child: Medium to large, 2-piece shoeboxes are still needed. Drop them into the designated box in the Narthex by the east entrance doors.

NURSERY HELP: A once a month commitment is all that is needed to allow our families with young children to worship with us.  Assistance is needed in both the nursery and in the two-year old class, with plenty of help from the teens.  Please contact Wes Underwood at wesunderwood@gcchome.org, or indicate your interest on the Welcome to the Worship form.

The 2009-2010 Annual Report is here.  You can view it online at www.gcchome.org or stop by the Information Booth to pick up a copy to see some of the amazing things that God has done in and through everyone at GCC over the last year.  The annual report will also be reviewed at the August 22 congregational meeting.

CHOIR STARTING AGAIN: Choir is starting again on September 8 at 7pm in the sanctuary. The choir usually sings twice a month at the traditional service. We’re always looking for new members! See you on the 8th!

Women of Faith: There are still a few more tickets available for the 2 day event in Milwaukee on
October 1 & 2. For more information contact Janet Petersen at (847)336-1598.

MISSING: There are two white silk floral arrangements in brass planters and a full length mirror that are used for weddings are missing. The brides need to be able to see how beautiful they look before they walk down the aisle. If you know where they are please contact the office. 

DO YOU LIKE MEETING PEOPLE?  We have openings for greeters and our information booth, located in the narthex.  Your commitment would be one Sunday per month.  If interested, please contact Barb McKown at (847)245-3565.

THANK YOU to everyone who attended, supported, prayed for or helped prepare for the Kenyan luncheon.  There were many hands involved in making this event a success and we thank each one of you.  Please keep the adult mission team in your prayers as we continue to prepare our hearts for the journey to Kenya. What's next for this team?  The biggest, best cookie walk GCC has ever seen...keep your eyes on the Sunday bulletin this Fall for more information on our next fun event. 

Sunday Pre School Set Design Director: Creativity is a must for this new position You will be given a set design in advance and need to create set  to enhance the lesson for our new large group/small group curriculum starting on September 12. A new set will be created every four to six weeks. Please contact either Wes Underwood at wesunderwood@gcchome.org or Erica Velez at fuzzne@hotmail.com  if you can help. The first set needs to be started by August 29.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY Hospitality Coordinator: The Children’s ministry team is currently looking for people who are willing to set up for a fellowship time after the 10:45 service. This important position will include a small set up of coffee, juice/water, and light snacks in the Family Life Center. This will allow leaders and other volunteers to meet parents and discuss any issues and opportunities for families. Please contact Wes Underwood, wesunderwood@gcchome.org if you can help.
